Why Osteopathy?
That’s often the first question I get asked. After all, after spending 8 years studying the body, body mechanics, movement, muscles, nerves, connections… it’s pretty obvious I’m an osteopathy nerd ;)
There’s many reasons why I’m passionate about osteopathy and being a manual osteopathic practitioner, and why not one of the other body based practices, but one of the easiest answers is because it worked for me.
As someone who has spent their life playing sports - and continues to dabble in the volleyball courts now and then - having a body that is (relatively) pain free and just works is pretty important. So when I had an injury and couldn’t seem to shake it, my cousin
And, not to be dramatic, but it genuinely changed everything for me.
I KNEW I had to unlock the secret sauce of osteopathy, fell in love with it - and after YEARS of schooling, and working during school in hospitality and nursing homes, I finally get to do what I love.
My colleague jokingly calls me “Osteopathy Nerd” - and it’s a title I’ll wear with pride. If I’m not treating a body then I’m digging through my textbooks and resources to get ready for the next client… maybe I really am a nerd!
What is a treatment with me actually like?
The honest answer is it depends! I treat the body in front of me, but it will often start with assessing what is going on in the whole system - muscles, tendons, ligaments, and all those connective tissues.
From there I’ll work to help the body toward optimal movement through gentle manipulations. I’ll advise you want I think an ideal treatment plan would be from there.
For me it really is such a blessing to be able to work in the community and help people get their body back to a place that they can improve their quality of life - it might sound cheesy but it’s true!
I’d love to work with you too and see if we can get your body working the way you are ready for - feel free to book in an initial assessment appointment.
